Qualude ~ the first rescue ~
Qualude was rescued in 1996. He had been declawed by his previous owners and then put outside with a large herd of ferral cats, unable to defend himself and had to fight for food. He is now indoors, well fed and in excellent health. He also has adopted all the cats that followed him, and even though he is declawed, when challenged in anyway stands up on his hind legs ready for battle. The challenger immediately backs down (after all, the others don't know he's declawed). He is "the Great Sage", the wise elder of the herd.

Shade
~ AKA Shadow Light ~
Thousand Dollar Cat
Shade was rescued in the summer of 1996. His previous owner could no longer keep him and we were told he would not get along with other animals. Shade had been abused by the previous owner's roommate and had suffered a broken hip(which was untreated) and also, as we came to realize had severe urinary blockage and kidney trouble. After extensive surgery and a year of recouperation and numerous minor surgeries he is now healthy, very loving toward us and all the other animals at the sanctuary. He is kept healthy by a special prescription diet, which is fed to all the cats in an effort to avoid this dreaded health issue occurring in any other rescued cat. He has, through his valient fight for life, become "Lord of the Realm".

Missy
~ AKA Missdemeanor ~
~ Hissy Missy ~
Missy, was taken in by the shelter when her previous owner was no longer able to have pets. She is very particular about who she associates with among the other cats. She definitely prefers to "keep her own counsel" and lets all the other's know that she is not about to take any challenges to her status. She is however, very loving to adult humans and seeks affection often(as long as none of the other cats are around to notice).

Tumbleweed
~ AKA Owl Eyes ~
Tumbleweed came to Little Green when he was only 6 weeks old. He is an angora, persian mix. He used to like to sleep on the steps and tumble down them so of course we named him Tumbleweed.

Pidgeon
~ Whistle Cat ~
Mr. Pidgeon Higins
Pidgeon was adopted in 1996 by the shelter at age 3 months. He is the "forever kitten" of the Sanctuary. He loves to play "face smash" with us. He got the nickname "Whistle Cat" because the shape of his mouth makes him look like he is whistling.

Lyncoya
~ AKA Lynx ~
The Abandoned One
Steve brought Lyncoya home in September of 1996. She had been abandoned in the country, was very sick, half starved and recouperating from having a litter. Today she is in excellent health.

Wishbone
~ The Matriarch ~
Wishbone is our oldest cat. AT almost 22 years of age she is still alert, spry, in good health and very loving.

Nipkit
~ AKA Nippers ~
Nipkit is a 5 year old Burmese/Siamese mix. He is beutiful silver/grey with blue eyes. (except when he is on occasional "high cat alet" when his eyes are red)

Katie
~ AKA Cat ~
Katie was rescued by our son, Matt, in 1998. She is very busy all the time, likes when Matt comes to visit, and always responds well when you sing the song "Katy, Beautiful Katy" to her.

Mouse
Mouse was rescued in the summer of 1998. He had been abandoned in an upstairs bedroom of a house with no food or water. He still enjoys a good nap in an air-conditioned room on a hot summer's day.

Bootsie
Bootsie came to us almost 4 years ago. He is a rescued ferral cat. It took over two years but he finally trusts us enough to come to us for lots of petting today.

Indigo
Indigo is another rescued ferral cat. She came to us with Bootsie. She has just gotten to the point where she will sit with us in the same room for awhile. Her picture will be added as soon as she stays in the same room with us for more than 4 minutes.

Sasha
Sasha is another rescued ferral cat. She too has been with us almost 4 years. She came around very early for love and petting. Her curiosity outweighed her fear of humans.

Benjamin
~ AKA Benny Goodcat ~
Benjamin showed up in our back yard one afternoon in 1999. He took up residence under our back porch and decided to come on in later that same evening. He is a big loving "duffer".

Piwhackit
~ AKA Bast ~
Piwhackit was rescued from sure death at approximately 2 weeks of age. She came out to greet me in a family member's barn. Her mommy had met with an unfortunate demise. She was very hungry, sick and almost blind. She is now happy, healthy and very very spoiled.

Tennessee
~ Tennessee Tuxedo ~
Tennessee was rescued in the spring of 2001 after he had become "inconvenient" to his former caretakers and had been put outside on a very busy city street. He is an absolute delight.

Cuff
One of two brothers rescued in the summer of 2000. Both had severe respiratory problems and were near blind. He is quite a little clown today. His nickname is "Ignats the Crazy Cat".

Link
Cuffs brother. His eyes are now big, bright and beautiful. He does like his catnip.

Morrigan
~ AKA The Triple Goddess ~
We found Morrigan July4, 2002. She was two weeks old, very sick and very near death. Her eyes were abcessed shut. After several months of intensive care and hand feeding she fully recouperated. She has big beautiful eyes today and is very healthy and happy.

Bridget
~ AKA Doggie Cat ~
The Guardian
of the whole sanctuary. She is a rescued border collie. She loves cats and kids and rules the roost.
